
I moved to northeastern Oklahoma in 1972, the summer before my senior year in high school. After serving a few years in the military (U.S. Marine Corps and later the U.S. Coast Guard) and a couple of years at an out-of-state college, I returned to northeastern Oklahoma in 1985 and have lived here since.
I received my bachelor's degree in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture from Oklahoma State University in 1991. After working in horticulture for several years I changed careers and I'm now a safety professional.
I am luckily and happily married to a wonderful woman from Bangladesh and we have two beautiful daughters, aged eleven and seven. My family was late in coming but well worth the wait and they are the center of my universe.
As far as any expertise in science goes, I have many college hours in the life sciences but very little in the way of formal education in the areas of geology and meteorology. I'm self-educated to some degree in these areas but by NO means anything near an expert. My sole asset in these areas is my curiosity and love of the topics.
